Criteri per cogliere l'azione della provvidenza = Criteria for understanding the action of Providence
Abstract
The aim of this essay is to identify criteria for affirming God's provident action. It follows two steps: in the first, with examples taken from history, is shown the most common way of recognizing God's Providence; this coincides with the advantages that a subject, single or collective, derives from an event; in the second, I try to show the limit of this way of proceeding and I indicate the fundamental criterion that we find in the New Testament: it is providential what leads to salvation, that is, to the configuration of people to Jesus Christ. The article has a theological character, although – one could imagine – it could also be of some use for philosophers.
