H-ermes. Journal of Communication

Il prossimo numero di «H-ermes, Journal of Communication» sarà dedicato al tema ridefinizioni.

Le definizioni rappresentano un patrimonio scientifico e culturale che affonda le sue radici nell’antichità. Dai dialoghi platonici alla definizione di Dio in Anselmo e in Cartesio, fino a includere i classici delle scienze sociali nei loro tormentati rapporti con le scienze fisico-matematiche, il definire ha caratterizzato l’intera storia delle idee umane.

Tra la fine del XX e l’inizio del XXI secolo, ogni settore scientifico si è misurato con il proprio ripensamento, dandosi come obiettivo rivedere gli oggetti di indagine, i concetti, i metodi.

Si tratta di una condizione destinata però a ripresentarsi, seppure in modi diversi, perché l’accelerazione tecnologica digitale e gli intrecci tra discipline comportano una movimentazione costante degli oggetti e delle strategie di ricerca.

Quali ridefinizioni stanno caratterizzando la contemporaneità? Di quali ridefinizioni abbiamo bisogno?

I saggi del numero potranno sviluppare i seguenti punti, nella più ampia prospettiva multidisciplinare, privilegiando casi di studio originali o poco dibattuti:

* Ridefinizioni e neodefinizioni;

* Ridefinizioni sociali e normative, dalla national security alla cittadinanza;

* Ridefinizioni nel sistema dei media, con particolare riferimento all’ambito televisivo, cinematografico, radiofonico e dei new media;

* Ridefinizioni nel sistema delle arti: come si ridefiniscono teatro, danza, musica, pittura, scultura, letteratura;

* Definizioni inattuali in attesa di ridefinizione;

* Nuove definizioni per nuove aree disciplinari;

* Tipi di ridefinizione: reale, nominale, dizionariale, stipulativa, ostensiva, esplicativa;

* La ridefinizione come esito di un negoziato sociale (gender, movimenti, minoranze, etc);

* Definizioni mainstream e ridefinizioni alternative;

* Definizioni negative ed oppositive, dal non-essere al non-luogo, e ridefinizioni come post-democrazia, post-truth o, su un altro piano, transmedialità.

Referees

Ogni saggio sarà valutato da almeno due referees anonimi. I referees potranno essere membri del Comitato Scientifico, del Comitato di Redazione, della Redazione, o studiosi esterni.

Submission

Invio di un abstract alla redazione (max 2.000 battute) entro il 15 settembre 2020 e consegna dei saggi entro il 1 novembre 2020.

The next issue of "H-ermes, Journal of Communication" will be dedicated to the topic redefinitions.
Definitions represent a scientific and cultural heritage that has its roots in antiquity. From Platonic dialogues to the definition of God in Anselmo and Descartes, up to and including the classics of the social sciences in their tormented relationships with the physical-mathematical sciences, defining has characterized the entire history of human ideas.

Between the end of the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty-first century, each scientific field measured itself with its own rethinking, giving itself the objective of reviewing objects, concepts and methods of investigation.
However, this is a condition destined to recur, albeit in different ways, because the digital technological acceleration and the intertwining of disciplines entail a constant movement of objects and research strategies.

The essays of the issue will develop the following points, in a broader multidisciplinary perspective, favoring original or little-discussed case studies:

* Redefinitions and new definitions;

* Social and regulatory redefinitions, from national security to citizenship;

* Redefinements in the media system, with particular reference to the television, cinema, radio and new media fields;

* Outdated definitions pending redefinition;

* New definitions for new disciplinary areas;

* Types of redefinition: real, nominal, traditional, stipulative, ostensive, explanatory;

* Redefinements in the system of the arts: how theater, dance, music, painting, sculpture, literature are redefined;

* The redefinition as the result of a social negotiation (gender, movements, minorities, etc);

* Mainstream definitions and alternative redefinitions;

* Negative and oppositional definitions, from non-being to non-place, and redefinitions such as post-democracy, post-truth or, on another level, transmedia.

Referees

Each essay will be evaluated by at least two anonymous referees. The referees may be members of the Scientific Committee, of the Editorial Board, of the Editorial Staff, or external scholars.
