Questa nota esamina lo stato di conservazione del patrimonio carsico ipogeo di un’area dell’Alto Salento,da alcuni anni oggetto dell’attività di ricerca speleologica del Centro di Documentazione e Tutela delle Grotte di Martina Franca. Vengono presentati i primi risultati del monitoraggio realizzato nel territorio di Ceglie Messapica (Brindisi),con le problematiche relative agli aspetti della tutela e valorizzazione delle grotte.Si riportano inoltre le cavità carsiche del territorio, comprese quelle in corso di catastamento.

This note examines the condition in which actually is the Karst territory situated in the area of the Alto Salento in Apulia.This area has been largely studied under the speleological point of view by the Centro di Documentazione e Tutela delle Grotte of Martina Franca.This note offers the results of the constant controls and studies led particularly in Ceglie Messapica (Province of Brindisi)area.This area is characterized by a softly hilly landscape not very high on the sea level.The area is not mountainous,and it is possible to see not very profound sinkholes and shallow channels.This note,at the same time,analyses the problems related to the caves and their protection.Here are listed all the natural holes of the area including those who have never been registered.
