Riconsiderazioni sull'agone di Delfi: istituzione e premi

L'articolo discute due opinioni discordanti riguardo all'istituzione dell'edizione musicale dei Pythia scaturite dalle testimonianze antiche: la prima facente capo agli argumenta a, b e d delle Pitiche e al Marmor Parium, che datano la prima edizione storica al 591/90 a.C.; la seconda che invece posticiperebbe tale edizione al 586/85 a.C. sulla base di una testimonianza di Pausania. L'ipotesi conclusiva è che l'edizione cui Pausania fa riferimento non è da escludersi in quanto taciuta da tutte le altre fonti, ma anzi integra queste ultime, mettendoci a conoscenza di un'edizione altrimenti ignota dell'agone. La rilettura degli eventi qui proposta chiarisce altresì la scansione cronologica dei fatti della Prima Guerra Sacra così intimamente connessi con l'istituzione della gara, di cui si passano in rassegna i vari premi, con particolare attenzione alle mele distribuite ai vincitori in età imperiale insieme alla corona d'alloro.

This article discusses two contrasting opinions about the foundation of the Pythias musical edition arisen by ancient testimonies: the first makes reference to aargumenta a, b and d of Pitiche and Marmor Parium, which set its historical date to 591/90 b.C.; the second, instead, would postpone it to the 586/85 b.C., on the basis of a testimony given by Pausania. The conclusive hypothesis affirms that the edition Pausania makes reference to is not to be excluded, for it has been omitted by all the other sources. Rather, he completes these sources, letting us find out an edition that would have otherwise been unknown to the "agone". The new interpretation of events that I will propose in this article also clarifies the chronology of the events of the First Sacred War, which is so deeply connected with the foundation of the competition, whose various prizes will be taken into analysis. Moreover, specific attention will be paid to the apples assigned in the Imperial Age, along with the laurel crowns.
