Eirini-Erifyli Tzekou has recently finished her thesis on “Alternative spaces and approaches of spatial development: The case of Alternative Food Networks”. Her research unfolds around two main pillars: (a) critiques of growth and alternatives to it, focusing on degrowth and post-development as socially, economically and ecologically viable approaches of/to development and (b) alternative food networks, focusing on their potential contribution to a socioecological transformation and on their limitations. She has participated in research programs regarding social and solidarity economy, transformative social innovation, alternative food networks, food sovereignty and access to quality food during the economic crisis in Greece.

Giorgos Gritzas is an associate professor at the School of Spatial Planning and Development, in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a founding member and member of the academic board of the post-graduate program “Social and Solidarity Economy” in the Hellenic Open University. He is member of the international network “Community Economies Research Network” and founding member of the research team on “Commons and Social and Solidarity Economy” that organized the first conference in Greece on Commons and SSE. He has taught modules on Geography in conjunction with Alternative Economies and Alternative Approaches and Policies of Territorial Development and Planning. He is a reviewer of the journals «Urban Studies», “disP - The Planning Review”, “Organization Studies”,“ARDETH“ and also a reviewer of research projects in European Research Council - ERC Starting Grant.
