Chiara Lovotti

Chiara Lovotti is a Doctoral Fellow at the University of Bologna and a Visitor at the School of Global and Area Studies of the University of Oxford. She is a specialist in international relations of the MENA, with a focus on Russia’s foreign policy in the area and associated political and security issues. Her current academic research explores the Soviet Union’s impact on the state-building processes in postcolonial Arab countries, especially Egypt, Iraq, and Syria. Chiara is also a Fellow at the Europaeum Scholars Programme and an Associate Researcher for the Italian Institute for International Political Studies. She has recently co-edited the book Russia in the Middle East and North Africa. Continuity and Change (2020).
Licia Proserpio

Licia Proserpio a PhD student in Global Histories, Politics and Cultures at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on Myanmar/Burma and aims at analysing the impact of student movements on the national political and educational landscape. Licia also works as Research Manager at the University of Bologna, Department of History and Cultures where she supports the development and management of competitive research and teaching projects with particular reference to the European frameworks. Since 2012, she has been managing more than twenty EU-funded projects, including various projects in Iraq.
