L’Intelligenza Emotiva predice il successo accademico? Uno studio su un campione universitario italiano

Abstract

Emotional Intelligence is defined as the ability to perceive, use, understand and manage emotions in oneself and others. This ability plays a central role in predicting academic success: the university field emotionally engages students, and high emotional competences, not only cognitive ones, could be the key for a brilliant and successful academic career. The present study aimed to explore the role of the EI in predicting academic success on Italian undergraduate students of the University of Bari. High abilities of perceiving, using, understanding, and managing emotions were expected to be associated with academic success, in terms of years of achieving a degree, degree mark and the average exam marks. Results confirmed that emotionally intelligent students will be " over time " successful college students.
